Exploring WATCHDOG Detection Functions from the Perspective of 【Event Integration】

In the chapter 【Overview of Monitoring Items】, we have introduced the various detection functions of the WATCHDOG system.
In this chapter, we will introduce how to integrate alarm content from 【Application Systems】 and 【Applications】 through the functionalities of the WATCHDOG system (such as event and message interface integration, scheduled file detection, alarm gateway, etc.),
to achieve unified management and dispatching of alarm messages.

Overview of Event and Message Integration

The WATCHDOG system provides specific integration functions for various messages sent by different devices.
It supports collecting alarm messages from diverse sources.

Alarm Gateway

The alarm gateway is designed to integrate alarms from other applications. Its main purpose is to ensure that when other applications issue or release alarms, this information can be effectively transmitted to the monitoring center.

Scheduled Files

Monitors the survival status of background programs or applications. By requiring applications to report to the host within a fixed interval under a specified name, if the application fails to report back within the stipulated time, the system will identify it as an abnormal event.

Event Data

Integrate alarms from other operation systems by establishing specific monitoring items based on 【data in specified files】 through custom programs.

Mail Forwarding

If the alarm messages from other devices can be sent to the WATCHDOG host via email, the email method can be used to integrate the warning messages from other devices, assisting other devices in handling alarm events.

System Logs - SYSLOG

Collect system logs or event logs in real-time, and issue alarms by filtering based on levels or message content, allowing for subsequent problem tracing.

Simple Network Management - SNMP

Use SNMP to collect device information and analyze the specific MIB and OID of specified devices through the WATCHDOG system. After analyzing the data structure, it can determine whether it is normal or abnormal based on the set alarm conditions.
